Preparation

Start Painting! 

1. Work with an Open Door - Prop the door open or lay it flat on a protected surface, ensuring you have easy access to all sides. 

1. Start with the Edges - Using your angled brush, carefully paint the edges of the door, including the top, bottom, and sides. Focus on achieving clean, even lines. 

1. Painting Paneled Doors - If your door has recessed panels, paint them first. Use a small brush to get into the corners and detailed areas. Then, use the roller to paint the flat surface of each panel with smooth, vertical strips. 

1. Paint the Flat Areas - Once the edges and panels (if applicable) are complete, use the roller to paint the remaining flat surface of the door. Apply the paint in smooth, even strokes in one direction (top to bottom or vice versa). Overlap slightly with each stroke to ensure complete coverage. 

1. Apply a Second Coat (Optional) - For optimal results and a richer colour, consider applying a second coat once the initial coat is completely dry.  

1. Let it Dry Completely - Allow the paint to dry completely before reattaching any hardware. 

Using A Spray Gun To Paint Interior Doors

For larger projects or a super smooth finish, consider a spray gun. Ensure proper ventilation and wear a respirator. Test spray on cardboard first. Maintain a consistent distance and even strokes while spraying. Apply light coats and allow for drying between them.
